New @ Design8: VRscans!

December 12, 2017

VRscans from now on available at Design8!

VRscans is a library with hundreds of real-life materials based on a scan of the physical material. The scanned materials are ready to be applied to 3D visualizations in V-Ray for 3ds Max, Maya or SketchUp. The growing collection includes samples of car paint, fabric, leather, wood, plastic, metal and more. That's why it's the ideal tool to add even more realism to your scenes!

Why VRscans?

  • VRscans provides a photorealistic level of quality and real-world responses to lighting conditions.
  • VRscans shine right out of the box. Use them as perfect copies of real materials, or as accurate references to build your own.
  • Photorealism with a simple drag-and-drop. Shaders that took hours to perfect are now ready in a couple of clicks.
  • The confidence that your 3D objects will look exactly as they would in the real world.
  • VRscans are engineered by the same team that created V-Ray. The two products work together seamlessly.
  • Choose from hundreds of pre-scanned and ready to use materials. You can even send your own samples to the developer and they can scan them for you.

Live Demo: Design a beautiful product with minimal weight and maximum strength

solidthinking live demo

On Thursday February 22, 2018, Design8 bv organizes an extensive demonstration of 3D parametric design. The starting point will be a computer generated and optimized shape that can be improved to become a beautiful 3D parametric designed product, ready to be traditionally produced or 3D printed. This will all be demonstrated using the 3D applications solidThinking Inspire (topology optimization) and Evolve (parametric 3D NURBS design).

During this live demonstration, Orlando Sardaro from Design8 and Felix Radisch from solidThinking will show how to easily save weight in your product designs while achieving optimal strength in a beautiful shape.
